The University of Arizona Wildcats
Athletics is important at the University of Arizona and has always been part of the traditions here. The first goal of the athletics program is to educate the student athletes and ensure that they get the best education possible. The quality of education is just as important as doing well in sports. It is also the responsibility of these athletes to show the public their integrity on and off of the field.
The University of Arizona's athletic program has been producing athletes who have won individual and national championship titles. The University of Arizona's teams have produced 21 total National Championships in quite a few sports. The most recent was in baseball in 2012. In 2017, Sage Watson, of the women's track and field team, brought the University of Arizona the title of Individual Champion for the 400-meter hurdles. Arizona has had six student-athletes that have been inducted into the University of Arizona Hall of Fame and they have produced many Olympic athletes. In fact, there have been 122 University of Arizona athletes to compete in the Olympic games. These athletes have made a total of 187 appearances in the Olympics and earned 74 medals.
The University of Arizona has one major rivalry with the Arizona State University Sun Devils. When the two teams play each other in football, it is often referred to as "The Duel in the Desert."
The Wildcats of the University of Arizona wear navy blue and red and they play football in the Arizona Stadium which is located in Tucson. It can hold over 56,000 fans. The Wildcats offer many different styles of athletic merchandise. From hats, shirts, jerseys, sweaters, leggings, and more, the Arizona Wildcats offer anything that the fans want for game day!
